User Home Directories

A normal SmartFile installation assigns users to a home directory, which acts as the virtual root of the site for users. This does not work the same in HyperPrivacy mode.

When a user is assigned to a home directory, their file permissions (to upload, download, delete and list contents) apply to everything in that home folder.

Users with the default Manager role cannot assign other users to home directories outside of the manager's home directory. The enables self-management for departmental units - managers are able to create and manage the users in their own department but not every user in the system.
